We have a new and exciting opportunity for an experienced finance professional to join us as our Strategic Finance Manager. 

The role

This role provides leadership and assurance of our long-term ability to deliver financially sustainable conservation outcomes through planned financial stewardship.

Reporting to our Chief Financial Officer your role is to enable the financial sustainability of the Department through strategic financial management by planning, modelling and reporting of future financial outcomes. You will provide high quality, insights driven, financial information to support and influence the Department’s strategic decision making.

You will need the flexibility to adapt and develop as the environment evolves around this role.  You will work closely with executive leadership to manage the development, delivery and monitoring of long-term financial strategy to support our strategic goals, so you need to demonstrate a high level of communication skills.

Specialist skills and experience

  • Demonstrated success in strategic finance leadership in a large State sector organisation
  • A professional accounting qualification – Chartered Accountant or similar with seven years or more post qualified experience
  • Thorough knowledge and application of the Public Finance Act and processes, and Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP)
  • Ability to review and analyse and draw insights from complex accounting information
  • In depth knowledge and experience of financial management systems and processes
  • Able to identify risks & opportunities, and evaluate them to optimise financial decision making
  • Working across the public sector and maintaining current knowledge in good financial leadership practice
