Supervisor Social Worker – Oranga Tamariki – Alexandra Office

At Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children, our goal is to establish a multiagency approach to protecting and caring for New Zealand’s tamariki and rangatahi.

If this sounds like you, look no further! We currently is seeking for an experienced practitioner who has a well-established leadership skill who is ready to take the next step in their career to join our Alexandra Office. 

In this role you will be working in partnership with a team of Social Workers along with other stakeholders to protect and make a positive impact to New Zealand’s tamariki and rangatahi. 

In this fast-paced role, you will be supporting our practitioners to make bold and courageous decisions while working in partnership with Whānau and Iwi. Along with your exceptional leadership skills, you will provide the capacity to work creatively, constructively and effectively with our clients and other stakeholders in addressing individual and social problems. Your ability to quickly work through complex information to support solid safe decision is greatly valued.  

We are looking for a highly organised and strength focused leader to provide inspiring vision, offer direction and support individual and team action to protect vulnerable tamariki and rangatahi.

What you will bring?

  • Full Social Worker Registration Board registration and current Annual Practicing Certificate
  • Well developed child protection Social Work knowledge and practice 
  • Experience in leading and inspiring a team
  • To be resilience and to have the ability to work under pressure
  • Cultural awareness and understanding of Tikanga Māori
  • To have a positive attitude through the ability to influence and empower our clients
  • Good communication skills., time management and strong conflict resolution skills
