Canterbury Health Laboratories (CHL) is a busy diagnostic facility providing services to inpatients and outpatients at Canterbury DHB Hospitals within Christchurch.

We’re looking for an experienced Phlebotomist to join us as our Supervisor in our Blood Test Centre covering parental leave. You’ll have proven ability to lead and motivate your team while supporting them through changes within our laboratory and healthcare environment. We have a large team of phlebotomists and trainees who are passionate about providing quality care to patients!

This is a full-time opportunity (40 hours per week) covering parental leave until approximately June 2021. Start and finish times are negotiable.

The Role: Where you fit in

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • ensuring the provision of a high-quality service to clients in collaboration with the Section Head
  • ensuring all staff are appropriately trained and supervised where required
  • contributing to quality initiatives and monitoring quality outcomes
  • the maintenance of equipment and the purchase of supplies.

Your skills will include:

  • strong phlebotomy experience with relevant qualification
  • previous experience in a similar role is advantageous
  • excellent interpersonal and organisational skills with the ability to build and foster relationships within CHL and the wider DHB
  • proven ability to lead and motivate a team
  • the ability to embrace change while supporting a team to manage a changing environment
  • registration with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand is essential.
