NIWA is New Zealand’s leading environmental science research institute and the key provider of atmospheric, freshwater and marine research and applied science services in New Zealand.About the role:NIWA is currently recruiting a junior Financial Systems Administrator. This role ensures the financial systems operate smoothly by providing administration and support for Oracle EBS, Unimarket (our purchasing system) and various system integrations. The primary focus is financial transactional data, i.e. payables or revenue transactions that flow between the different modules of the finance system. The day to day life of a Financial Systems Administrator at NIWA:As a Financial Systems Administrator, you are effectively a ‘super user’ of NIWA’s Oracle EBS and other systems. Activities vary from one day to the next, influenced by both the monthly reporting cycle and by issues as they arise. Here are three examples of the types of activities you will be undertaking in this role:You will run the month end close processes in the finance system, including correcting any processing errors that occur between transactional modules (e.g. payables and receivables) and closing each module in line with the month end timetable. You might spend a whole day, or more, working on a single data fix, including testing and providing feedback about errors to the external partner that runs the system on our behalf. You will be responsible for identifying, investigating and correcting the integration errors that occur between Oracle EBS and Unimarket. Such errors and corrections range from the trivial (e.g. a date change) or more complex, requiring discussions with the wider team to resolve (e.g. a project code has end-dated, preventing a given transaction from being processed). It is important to be clear that this role is not focused on databases or on the underlying Oracle code or on writing interfaces between systems.Who are you?You will have experience processing ledger postings and resolving system integration errors through either Oracle EBS R12 or a similar finance system. Experience with Unimarket would be a bonus. You will need highly effective time management and forward planning skills so that you can balance meeting deadlines and maintaining a high standard of service to staff. Excellent attention to detail, communication and prioritisation skills are a must.We are offering a competitive remuneration package and you will be working in a vibrant Viaduct location. If you are interested in applying for this role, ensure to include in your cover letter how your experience relates to each of the three examples listed.
