Systems and Operational Support Administrator – IT – Fixed Term – 1 year

About the role

This full-time fixed term role is for an IT all-rounder with experience in hardware set up, service management, maintaining essential IT operations, assisting with systems design and testing, software upgrades, and technical support.  You see the support of others as an integral part of your day, along with your desire to help others understand IT products.    

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain services for all Electoral Commission Systems
  • Provide System and Windows Client/Server Administration services
  • Liaise with third party maintenance providers
  • Maintain systems availability to meet the Commission’s business requirements
  • Maintain the integrity of data
  • Ensure new products and new versions of software are tested and certified
  • Monitor ongoing performance of all third-party maintenance providers

Your Background:

  • Front-line IT support experience
  • Strong experience in Microsoft Windows and the Office suite and knowledge of Linux systems
  • Experience in PC hardware, server and networking including Infrastructure as a Service (cloud), AD, LDAP, VPN
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • High level of flexibility and ability to multi-task
  • Adaptable, be able to work autonomously as well as a good team player.
