  • Summary:

The Evaluation and Review – Māori Group within the Education Review Office (ERO) is seeking candidates interested in joining their team as a Tūmatahuki, based in our National Office in Wellington on a 12 month fixed term contract.

ERO is a Government department that evaluates and reports on the education and care of children and students in early childhood services and schools. Our Evaluation and Review – Māori Group is responsible for the delivery of a programme of quality evaluations, reviews, inquiries and investigations into the provision of education in Māori immersion early learning services, kura and wharekura.

The Tūmatahuki (Executive Support) role is an exciting opportunity that reflects that of its role in the making of tukutuku panels. The Tūmatahuki is a stake that is used to support the panel from breaking. It is largely unseen and is used where needed. Thus, the concept is a person who provides constant support when needed and in a way that is very behind the scenes. Through this, the notion of trustworthiness is implied, as you must be willing to work hard to support, while often being unnoticed.

If this sounds like you and you are highly motivated, can demonstrate initiative, juggle multiple priorities with ease and looking for variety, then we want to hear from you.

You will report directly to the Deputy Chief Executive Evaluation and Review -Māori, whilst providing ongoing support and guidance. This is a key support role that requires strong administration and organisational skills, and where knowledge and familiarity of te reo me ōna tikanga Māori is an advantage.

You need to be an effective communicator who is highly organised, capable of problem-solving, dealing with ambiguity and enjoys working within a team in a changing environment.

Please send your completed application form, cover letter and CV to Ngaere.Hauiti-Parapara@ero.govt.nz no later than 5pm Monday 23 March 2020.  PLEASE DO NOT APPLY THROUGH THIS WEBSITE.
