Teacher in Training (BestStart Kilmarnock)

  • Teacher in Training
  • Christchurch
  • Permanent / Full Time
  • We are delighted to offer two rare positions for teachers in training at BestStart Kilmarnock! One position for 30 hours, and one for 35 hours weekly.

BestStart Kilmarnock is a unique city preschool offering five classrooms including one Montessori Room. Ideally our new teachers in training will be second year students, or shortly to begin their second year.

    The two roles are:

    1. 35 hours per week in our Montessori classroom. This teacher in training needs to be someone with a strong interest in working in a Montessori environment, with a willingness to quickly learn and practice basic Montessori principles such as supporting children in a high degree of independence and self-directed learning.

    2. 30 hours per week in our Wheke classroom for 2-3-year-old learners, and sometimes supporting in other classrooms as needed. This teacher needs to be passionate about making learning fun in an environment where the emergent curriculum rules! With the ability to nurture little children to sleep, run around and dig in the sandpit with them, get creative in the art corner and support the many care needs of little children in a big, busy classroom.

BestStart Kilmarnock is a very international centre, with learners and Teachers from all over the world. We pride ourselves on how well we support children and families from all kinds of cultures and faiths and from all kinds of backgrounds. We welcome diverse learners and children with additional needs, cultural and religious needs, and we welcome teachers who bring different skills, languages, and ideas to our centre.

As a member of the BestStart family you will receive a competitive wage, childcare discounts, a uniform, healthcare subsidy, training incentives and more. If this role sounds of interest to you or if you have any questions, please get in touch today! Back to search results
