About us: 
Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children, is the Ministry that supports children and young people in New Zealand. Oranga Tamariki works to advance the wellbeing and positive long-term outcomes of children and young people. 


Our Youth Justice teams work in partnership with whānau, Iwi, Police, courts, youth workers, schools, and community organisations to find local solutions to youth offending and build safer, stronger communities. We engage with young people who are offending, help them put things right and support them for better outcomes.

We are looking for a practical and enthusiastic person to provide high quality efficient administrative support to a rapidly growing team that are dedicated to implementing, advising and supporting community-based residences 
This new role will include:

  • Diary management including prioritising of team tasks
  • Financial administration in collaboration with the manager
  • Adhoc administrative tasks and projects
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings and interviews
  • Coordination of travel and event management and hui’s for the teams
  • Monday to Friday office hours


To be successful, you will need:

  • Excellent communication skills – written and verbal
  • The ability to build strong relationships
  • Cross cultural approach and understanding of tikanga Māori
  • Strong multi-tasking, organisational and time-management skills
  • Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook
  • Ability to work well as part of a team
  • A “can-do” attitude
