We support the Wellington community with building compliance as it grows places to work, live and play. Working with homeowners, designers, consultants, builders and other industry leaders, this is a place where things are happening – and there’s never been a busier time in the building industry than now.As good as we are, our customers want a faster, more transparent service – so we’re responding. The focus of the Team Leader Operations is about developing and leading an operational team to ensure Council’s building consents and related functions are carried out in accordance with the Building Act 2004 and related legislations while providing excellent customer service. You will be responsible for building a constructive and high performing culture, working collaboratively with the wider organisation and managing internal and external stakeholder relationships.We’re working in an ever-changing environment with a focus on the way we serve our customers and look after the city’s build environment. To help us meet these challenges we’re are ideally looking for someone with a continuous improvement mindset, the technical skills along with experience and knowledge in a regulatory environment, ideally in the construction/building industry. Our environment is very dynamic, often challenging and fast paced so we are looking for someone who is resilient, versatile and pragmatic in their approach. Experience in leading or mentoring a team will be an advantage along with experience working in a political landscape.You will need to hold a current driver’s licence.To help enhance your time at Council and expand your role, we provide the ability to be part of our leadership program and other learning development opportunities.
