The Government Communications Security Bureau (GCSB) has an exciting opportunity for a new Team Leader, Data Analytics within the Intelligence Directorate.  For this role, you will be a motivated people leader with technical expertise, and will lead our advanced data analytics team to support the intelligence mission.

As the Team Leader you will shape the team’s long-term strategy, design data-driven solutions, and provide both technical and personal guidance to your staff. You will have the opportunity to identify, design and lead projects using unique datasets from a variety of sources and rapidly deliver new capabilities, this is work you can’t do anywhere else!

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have the technical skills (this could include software development, systems engineering, or data analysis) to lead and understand the work of your team;
  • Identify innovative and unique opportunities to support the intelligence mission; and
  • Enjoy working in a collaborative and creative work environment.

The team itself is responsible for:

  • Creating and automating new data analytics to make the most of our available data;
  • Empowering non-technical analysts to ask question of our data and work with them to make it happen; and
  • Developing and prototyping suitable solutions for enabling data analytics.

To be eligible for employment within the NZIC you must have been a NZ citizen for at least 10 years. Alternatively you must hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years.

You must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearance. Ordinarily to obtain this level of clearance candidates must have a 15 year checkable background in countries where meaningful and reliable checks can be undertaken. Where requisite checks are unable to be made, the candidate application may not be able to be progressed.
