The TEC – Te Amorangi Mātauranga Matua is a small Crown agency with a big job to do – ensuring New Zealanders have the skills and the knowledge they need to ensure lifelong success to build a great country. We lead the Government’s relationship with the tertiary education sector in New Zealand and provide career services from education to employment.
We’re looking for a Team Leader to help the Fund Specialists grow by setting up an “Allocate and Invest” team to focus on payments, performance monitoring, and their supporting systems.
TEC’s Fund Specialists Team administers over $3 billion of public funding each year. We allocate it across 40 Funds, to over 600 institutions including Universities, polytechnics, wānanga, schools, and private training enterprises. The Funds span research, degree-level training, vocational training and foundational education.
You are likely to have experience in a public sector financial role. You’ll have a strong interest in developing financial systems and people processes to achieve the best possible value from public funds. You might be seeking to step up into a people leadership role or already have managerial experience. You’ll be ready to take responsibility as a product owner and business owner to lead continuous improvement of how TEC invests in tertiary education and research.
