About the role – Mō te tūnga

The Feedback team is a crucial part of the feedback process within the organisation, ensuring that regions, sites and teams are fully supported when receiving, reviewing and replying to feedback.

The Intake and Enabling team is responsible for ensuring that the receipt of complaints is documented, assessed according to risk and directed to the correct area of the business for response and action. In addition, the enabling function is the backbone of the complaints system, ensuring that reporting is completed, processes are followed and improvement projects are completed.

The purpose of Team Leader Intake and Enabling is to develop and lead the practice of Intake and Enabling Advisors and Senior Advisors who are based across all the main centres delivering advice and support.This role is key in identifying opportunities to improve the policies and practices in Oranga Tamariki through the analysis of data and complaint information.

This role will work closely with the Manager Feedback and Complaints to ensure consistent delivery across the country. The role will promote a strong service culture and will seek opportunities for continuous improvement in support of the delivery of integrated intake and enabling service delivery.

What you will bring – Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu

  • Strong people leadership skills, ideally experience at a team leader level in operations and service delivery aspects of the social sector within Oranga Tamariki, or a comparable organisation
  • Experience in managing a multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience of being adept at managing multiple tasks and prioritising the demands of a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Excellent service focus – you’ll demonstrate a strong commitment to anticipating and meeting the needs of the people we are working with, and for, and be a superb relationship manager
  • Proven practical background in process planning – including how to set up systems and processes to ensure efficient service delivery with a focus on quality and risk management
  • A good understanding of the governance arrangements and public sector context within which Oranga Tamariki works and the ability to applies this understanding to judgement and decision making
  • Sound knowledge of Oranga Tamariki Act 1989, the Vulnerable Children’s Act 2014 and other relevant legislation
  • Outstanding communication skills that will enable you to engage and inspire staff and to build skills and confidence amongst the team
