What you will do
The Team Leader Planning and Scheduling – Central is responsible for leading a dynamic team of subject matter experts, who are responsible for the scheduling and co-ordination of resources for individual training activities conducted on NZDF camps and bases. The team that you lead delivers critical service support to NZDF Learning providers to enhance the quality of training and education they deliver to NZDF, resulting in effective and efficient outputs.
This senior operational role in the Training and Education Services team is based in Hokowhitu, centrally located with team members based in three locations at Hokowhitu, Linton and Waiouru; The role will involve an amount of travel within NZ between these three locations on a regular basis. The successful applicant will also be required to work closely with the other two regional Team Leaders based in Auckland and Trentham, to deliver a nationally focussed service support model across the NZDF Training and Education footprint.

Your exceptional leadership skills are crucial to this role, as is your ability to ‘hold your own’ in the presence of senior managers, to become a trusted advisor who will challenge others and provide constructive advice.
Our ideal candidate is a proactive and team orientated professional, who possesses excellent communication skills and strong problem solving abilities. 
We are looking for someone who has experience in and/or possesses the skills and attributes required for a Team Leader position in a large organisation, with an emphasis on demonstrable abilities in relating to others and ensuring their high performing teams are supported and developed. 
Your ability to research and present complex information in an easy to understand format and your skills in managing workflow will be vital to your success in this role.
Ideally, you will have a tertiary qualification in Business Management and have demonstrable experience around annual planning and scheduling in a large complex change environment, but this is not essential if you have extensive team leadership experience, along with the attitude and aptitude to succeed.

Planning and Scheduling supports NZDF learning providers in the planning, scheduling and resourcing of courses identified in the NZDF Course Plan. The team co-ordinates and monitors workflow, resource allocation and course scheduling, identifying any change requirements and resourcing issues, escalating these appropriately and in a timely manner.
