About the role:
The Team Leader Trade Marks is responsible for leading and managing a team of trade mark examiners. This exciting new opportunity will lead a team consisting of Associate Trade Mark Examiners, Trade Mark Examiners and Senior Trade Mark Examiners.
You will be accountable for setting your team’s goals and devising strategies to ensure the team meets its output and quality objectives. You will be responsible for managing cases the within the team to minimise business risk, and ensure the best outcomes for applicants and the public. You will be responsible for building your team’s overall capability, which will include resourcing and staff development through structured training, mentoring, and coaching.
As a member of the extended IPONZ Trade Marks and Geographical Indications Leadership Team reporting to the Trade Marks and Geographical Indications Manager, you will also be expected to contribute to the wider Trade Marks team’s strategic direction, projects, and constant business improvement initiatives.
A portion of the Team Leader’s time will also be dedicated to the examination of trade mark applications – applying the relevant trade mark practices and policies, case law and international treaties.
