Fantastic new Team Manager role within MPI’s New Zealand Food Safety Business Unit supporting business finance oversight, cost recovery implementation, external sector reporting and Ministerial servicing and Business Unit correspondence functions of the Business Unit

We have an exciting and challenging new role in MPI’s New Zealand Food Safety Business Unit.  The Team Manager Business Oversight will provide functional leadership and day-to-day management of one of two functional teams sitting within our Planning, Oversight and Performance team.


About the Role | Kōrero mō te tūranga

This newly created Team Manager role has been developed to help drive the business oversight area forward by bringing a new creative focus to the team.  The development of the members of the Business Oversight Team is a key focus for this role, as well as supporting the Manager Planning, Oversight and Performance to drive the wider team to a more future focused work programme. You will provide guidance and support with a focus on Corporate Services and Public Affairs accountability areas and our external facing customers, successfully lead the team and give the support needed to the team to meet its objectives.

The role offers a competitive salary range from $108,541 – $146,849.

About our Team | Mō tō mātou rōpū

The Planning, Oversight & Performance Team are a Business Unit shared service that plans, develops, measures, reports and improves the process and procedures across the system for the New Zealand Food Safety Business Unit and the wider Ministry. We ensure the activities of the Business Unit are clearly aligned to the Ministry’s strategy and core deliver systems and provide thought leadership for the business.  The Business Oversight Team is one of two functional teams in the Planning, Oversight & Performance team.

The Business Oversight Team works closely with the New Zealand Food Safety Business Unit. As a newly created role it is a great opportunity to get roll up your sleeves and develop new creative approaches.  Working closely with our colleagues across the Corporate Services and Public Affairs Branches, and having an external MPI focus, you will be responsible for ensuring adequate and robust support is provided to the New Zealand Food Safety Business Unit. This will ensure they are able to deliver on effective and innovative business oversight of finance, cost recovery implementation, external reporting and successfully supporting the Business Unit with Ministerial servicing and correspondence functions.
