Do you want a dynamic and challenging role in conservation? Are you looking to apply your current knowledge, skills and experience to support the public’s sustainable use and enjoyment of New Zealand’s National Parks and conservation lands and waters?

 

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Technical Advisor to provide support and advice for DOC’s visitor monitoring and reporting programme from within the Design and Evaluation Team. This permanent position is a rare opportunity to support the design and implementation of national programmes that directly inform the department’s provision of visitor experiences.

 

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have excellent written and oral science communication skills
  • Have excellent project management and coordination skills
  • Be an innovative and strategic thinker
  • Have a strong background in the application of a range of social research tools and methods, ideally including questionnaire design
  • Have a strong commitment to ethics, rigour and quality in the design, implementation, analysis and reporting of social research
  • Be skilled in the analysis and reporting of quantitative and qualitative data
  • Share a passion for capturing and representing the customer’s voice to inform delivery of outdoor recreation and heritage services/experiences
  • Enjoy undertaking customer research in the field for extended periods
  • Be an active recreationist in Aotearoa/New Zealand’s outstanding natural environments.

 

A relevant postgraduate qualification, and a minimum of three years’ experience in tourism and/or recreation customer research and delivery of social monitoring and evaluation programmes, are essential.
