We have an exciting opportunity for a new Technical Analyst to join our Data Analytics team within the Intelligence Directorate.

As a Technical Analyst supporting the Intelligence Directorate mission, you will have the opportunity to work on unique datasets and overcome technical challenges. You will be making a real contribution to the security of New Zealand while pushing the boundaries of technology and innovation.

The successful applicant will:

  • Have a relevant degree and/or technical or analysis experience, such as computer science, systems engineering, data science or mathematics.
  • Be able to learn new technical and analytical skills as required.
  • Enjoy working in a collaborative and creative work environment.

You will be responsible for supporting the intelligence mission by:

  • Collaborating with non-technical analysts to deliver outcomes.
  • Developing custom data analytics.
  • Prototyping suitable technology platforms to support data analytics.

To be eligible for employment within the NZIC you must have been a NZ citizen for at least 10 years. Alternatively you must hold NZ Permanent Residence or hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and have been a citizen of UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years.

You must be able to obtain and maintain a high level security clearance. Ordinarily to obtain this level of clearance candidates must have a 15 year checkable background in countries where meaningful and reliable checks can be undertaken. Where requisite checks are unable to be made, the candidate application may not be able to be progressed.
