A Trainee Tenprint Identification officer, once they have been trained will be required to process livescan, Ink fingerprints and make fingerprint identifications, they will also have to deal with any issues that arise with these fingerprints.

 

The National Biometrics Information Office now deals with Multi agencies such as Immigration, Corrections and Interpol.

 

This position will also require some domestic travel, lecturing/demonstrating at the Royal NZ Police College and Police stations.

 

This position is a career structure position, and the successful applicant will need to complete the requirements within a 12 month training period.

Technical Skills

  • Demonstrates a good working knowledge of the NZ Police computer systems, especially NIA.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the legislative requirements of the Policing Act in regards to the retention and deletion of prisoner’s biographical details.
  • Demonstrates a basic knowledge of the principles surrounding fingerprint Identification.

 

 

Additional Information:

  • This position is on a temporary basis while the successful applicant is completing the training. After the 12 month training period, the successful applicant will become permanent and move to a higher pay step.

 

 

Special Requirements:

  • The successful applicant must complete a form blindness test.
  • Experience in fingerprint identification is desirable, but not essential

 

 

Certification Requirements:

  • Current First Aid Certificate
