The Treatment Supervisor Brachytherapy – Radiation Therapist provides support to the Head of Treatment by taking on delegated leadership and operational tasks for the team. Communication and liaison with staff is essential in this role to ensure patients receive optimal treatment, education, assessment and interventions. This role must ensure the daily coordination of the operational requirements for the HDR Brachytherapy unit and requires a strong knowledge of standards, processes and policies as they will be a force for development and quality improvement. They will be the planning and treatment expert in the HDR Brachytherapy area. Their practice will consistently demonstrate leadership, expertise and innovation of practice. The HDR Brachytherapy service is a patient orientated activity and the staff member must be prepared to work irregular hours depending upon the patient and procedure requirements.
