The New Zealand Police has an opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced transcriber to join the File Management and Transcription Services, Reporting to the Supervisor Transcription Services.  The FM&T is part of a nationally centralised group which supports a number of key elements of the case management process, our frontline staff and also provides key services to victims.


This position is currently based in Waitematä District.  Please note that this position will be relocating to Otahuhu in 2020. 


Applicants will have excellent knowledge and use of Microsoft Office software including Word and also need to be able to accurately copy type, transcribe audio and DVD recordings to a high level of words per minute and possess excellent written and oral communication skills.


Shift work is a component of this role (including weekend work)



Skills, Knowledge & Experience:

  • Demonstrates an ability to competently use Microsoft Office
  • Typing speed of at least 70 words per minute
  • Knowledge of Winscribe is an asset
  • Previous experience dealing with sensitive material
  • Excellent command of English language, both written and oral
  • Capable of working under pressure whilst managing conflicting demands
  • Ability to manage own time in a fast paced and deadline driven environment
  • Be high motivated and a professional team player

Additional Information:

Special Requirements:
