What you will do

Veterans Affairs’ is looking for a Vocational Rehabilitation Advisor who will be responsible for providing comprehensive rehabilitation and vocational planning and services to ensure effective outcomes for our veterans.

As an Advisor, you will be:

  • Interpreting medical reports and information, offering clinical and vocational advice and conducting needs assessments;
  • Involved in working with and supporting Case Managers to facilitate and arrange services for veterans to develop integrated rehabilitation plans;
  • Sharing your extensive knowledge and expertise to assist in providing exceptional service to veterans.

 

What we need

As our ideal candidate you will have over 5 years’ experience in rehabilitation or health service, be a registered health practitioner, and hold a tertiary qualification in a relevant field. You will be able to provide exceptional support to internal and external stakeholders, and an ability to network and build strong working relationships. You must be a strong team player who works collaboratively in an open and transparent manner and communicates complex information clearly and concisely to a mixed audience. Ideally you will have experience working with a diverse group of clients and are both committed to and understand the importance of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

You will also need to have:

  • A strong understanding of veterans’ needs and cultural awareness to support best practice;
  • A sound knowledge and experience of rehabilitation particularly vocational rehabilitation, medical and paramedical terminology and procedures;
  • Knowledge of case management methodologies would be an advantage.

Low level Security Clearance

  • most preferably a NZ citizen, who has resided in this country continuously for at least the last five years, OR
  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last five years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, the United Kingdom (UK) or the United States of America (USA); and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at this level.
