Our Technology Directorate delivers technology for the Government Communications Security Bureau (GCSB), New Zealand Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) and the wider security and intelligence sector. What you’ll bring to the position:
Joining a technology centric team, who collectively do amazing things with information technology, you should also be enthusiastic solving complex problems on your own. Some formal training such as a tertiary qualification would be helpful, but we’re interested in relevant work experience or even a long term obsession!
We refer to a person with this expertise as a Cryptologic Engineer. Don’t let the word ‘Cryptologic’ spook you (see what we did there!). It’s not code breaking but you can expect to do some unique things with your computing / networking / problem solving skills.
What you get from us:
Level 2 salary from $79,797 to $119,695
(Midpoint of the salary range is $99,746 reflecting full competence in the role)
Level 3 salary from $93,497 to $140,245
(Midpoint of the salary range is $116,871 reflecting full competence in the role)

To be eligible for employment within the NZIC you must have been a NZ citizen for at least 10 years. Alternatively you must hold NZ Permanent Residence or hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and have been a citizen of UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years.
You must be able to obtain and maintain a high level security clearance. Ordinarily to obtain this level of clearance candidates must have a 15 year checkable background in countries where meaningful and reliable checks can be undertaken. Where requisite checks are unable to be made, the candidate application may not be able to be progressed.
