Immigration NZ’s vision & core purpose in-line with our ‘Striking the Balance’ strategy; is to support a strong & high performing economy without compromising the integrity of our environment. This is a newly created opportunity for an experienced leader for our growing Business Analyst capability that sits inside INZ’s Project Office management team (PO). The PO is crucial part of the Enablement group which is the business change engine in the heart of Immigration NZ.   

The PO team is responsible for the management and implementation of strategic projects across Immigration NZ. The work stream lead will bring their Business understanding and perspective, leading a team of business analysts to effectively deliver a range of services across the project landscape. This exciting leadership role will be immersed in delivery, with a 50% recovery target and will lead the team to the development of options and solutions for business problems and opportunities to enhance core processes that will improve the user experience. They will also provide guidance and mentoring for their team and be actively involved in the recruitment process and the building of a suitable team structure.

What we are looking for:

  • 10+ years of experience in a Senior Business Analysis Role in a business and/or technical capacity;
  • Actively involved in the Business Analyst community and can demonstrate a passion for the Business Analyst capability and service offering;
  • Leadership experience is preferred but not essential  
  • Skills in leading and motivating teams to deliver technology projects, of diverse complexity and scaleAbility to estimate project capacity requirements based on business strategies and objectives
  • Knowledge and experience in working with business analyst tools/methodologies including; BPMN, Better Business case, , process modelling and excellent documentation skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to use technology in achieving work outcomes;
  • Ability to quickly establish and build strong working relationships and develop trust and credibility with managers, staff, vendors and other stakeholders
  • Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written
  • Practical experience in making sense out of complexity
  • Ideally you can bring a breadth of commercial knowledge from both the private and public sector but have gained  a solid understanding of the workings  & complexity of core government legislative based delivery;
