The opportunity | Te Whiwhinga mahi

We have x3 Senior Network Manager opportunities within the System Management team. One role will be based in Wellington, one role will be based in Palmerston North and one role will be based in Nelson or Blenheim.

The purpose of this role is to lead the stewardship of the highway network; managing delivery of the annual plans and the State Highway forward works programmes, approving pavement designs and methodologies, ensuring maintenance of the network is managed effectively, managing the access and use of the highway network and providing technical support to the wider team. The decisions made in this role directly affect the safety and customer experience of people.

  • Recommend and participate in the negotiation of the service levels, asset intervention timing and operations to obtain best outcome. Effectively balance the needs of multiple stakeholders and desirable outcomes.
  • Ensure improvement projects consider whole life of operations, implications during design and construction
  • Undertake practical completion and defect liability inspections on all new works
  • Responsible for delivery of annual, three year and ten year works plan in line with SHAMP
  • Manage operational activity on the state highway network in accordance with the Transport Agency delegations
  • Responsible for procurement and management of maintenance and operations professional services and physical works contracts (excluding NOC) in accordance with Transport Agency process and procedure

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Extensive technical and practical experience in Asset Management, pavement design, maintenance and renewals practices’ knowledge and understanding of delivering best value solutions within a constrained budget
  • Asset data analysis
  • Experience at dealing with local government
  • Risk Management experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Able to collaborate with others and demonstrate an ability to build strong relationships to deliver agreed outcomes
  • Experience in emergency reinstatement and preventative maintenance applications
