Oranga Tamariki – Ministry for Children currently have a fixed term Youth Worker position based at our Whanganui Site.
About the role – Mō te tūnga
This position will see you engaging with and providing professional support to our rangatahi. A big part of your role will be assisting in the facilitation of care and support to our rangatahi. You will be demonstrating positive behaviours and acknowledging personal influence on the life of youth.
You will be working with a collaborative team who is passionate about Oranga Tamariki’s vision purpose and values. You will be supporting our Social Workers, Supervisors and support team. You will play a role in supporting with cultural and community connection, self-development and finally Education, Training and Employment focus.
As a Youth Worker, you will also be responsible for engaging with whānau and other stakeholders to initiate and advocate on behalf of the young people. You will also be sharing your experiences with our rangatahi and guiding them to achieve their best potential. You will also be coordinating appointments and escorting them to appointments, activities and supporting them at school.
