An opportunity has arisen for two 10-12 month contracts for parental leave cover, starting March 2020 (approx.), as Child Case Manager with the Hornby and Central Police Youth Aid team.

 

We are looking for a person who is innovative, motivated and passionate in this area and can work with our team to enable us to obtain sustainable reductions in child offending.

 

Child Case Management (CCM) aims at increasing capacity to intervene early and effectively with children under the age of 14. This early intervention targets children who have come to Police notice and have a low to medium risk of re-offending. To help ensure offenders and their siblings are prevented from engaging in cycles of victimisation, offending and re-offending.

 

Skills and Experience. You will be able to:

  • Demonstrate experience in problem-solving and prevention strategies in a child environment
  • Demonstrate an ability to work with Maori to produce positive outcomes that will deliver a 25% reduction in Maori offending by 2025.
  • Demonstrate a working understanding of the Oranga Tamariki Act 1989
  • Utilise problem solving skills and implement solutions to reduce child reoffending
  • Keep accurate and detailed records of information and decisions

 

Social work experience desirable but not essential.
