Addictions Counsellor / Registered Nurse – Opioid Substitution Treatment

About the Role

Deliver recovery oriented, harm reduction care to people experiencing opioid dependence. Assess, stabilise and provide ongoing support for tangata whaiora across all phases of OST, combining clinical interventions with a broader range of recovery supports. Monitor physical and mental health, support safe medication management, identify risks such as withdrawal or overdose, and deliver education to patients and whānau. Coordinate care with multidisciplinary team – prescribers, pharmacists, peer support, community services – to ensure continuity, safety and positive outcomes. Support engagement and retention in treatment programmes, contribute to quality improvement activities, and maintain accurate clinical documentation and registers.
