Job Description

Process customer transactions, provide customer service, and ensure accuracy at the sales counter. Cashiers work in many different places, including retail stores, restaurants, and gas stations.

Responsibilities

• Process transactions: Scan items, bag them, and take payment
• Provide customer service: Be friendly and courteous, and answer questions about prices, promotions, and store policies
• Handle payments: Accept cash, credit cards, and debit cards, and make change
• Issue receipts: Provide customers with a receipt for their purchase
• Handle returns and exchanges: Process returns and exchanges in a timely manner
• Balance cash drawers: Ensure the cash drawer is accurate and balance it at the end of the shift
