The City of Edinburgh Council operates five hostels across the city and Housing Supervisors provide a vital service in each project by directly supporting our residents, many of whom have a history of trauma and/or complex emotional and mental health needs.
Housing Supervisors work with our residents concentrating on building positive and supportive relationships as well as creating a sense of community. The goal is to enable the resident to maximise their own resources and ability to live independently so that they can successfully maintain a permanent tenancy when they leave our service.
The work can be challenging, and this requires staff to be emotionally resilient, understanding and committed to supporting residents who display challenging behaviour.
