Reporting to the Pathology Supervisor, the Immunohistochemistry specialist performs immunohistochemistry tissue staining, evaluates and implements new IHC instrumentation, workup and implementation of new antibodies. Establishes, monitors, and reviews quality control parameters in compliance to regulatory and accrediting requirements. Maintains current knowledge of individual antibodies, their diagnostic properties and the use of appropriate control tissue. Maintains adequate tissue bank supply for IHC tissue controls as needed. Is able to identify and troubleshoot erroneous IHC staining reactions and instrument malfunction, knowing when to escalate. Maintains a working knowledge of departmental and standard operating procedures, participates in review, revision and development of IHC policies and procedures.
