Consultant Pathologist – Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, NHS Grampian (University affiliated Teaching Hospital)
The post is part of a current team of 22 Consultant Pathologists. The department is open to applicants with interests in dermatopathology and urology, but is flexible and will consider other areas of interest.
The workload is reported by subspecialist teams and distributed in accordance with RCPath points guidance. The position offers opportunities for research, teaching and participation in private practice.
The Pathology Department processes approximately 37,000 surgical and 4,700 diagnostic cytology specimens and holds full UKAS ISO 15189:2022 accreditation. The Molecular Genetics laboratory is on site, and the laboratory has an integrated biorepository that supports research. The laboratory has recently undergone major refurbishment under a Managed Service Contract to create modern facilities.
