MACHINE SHOP ASSISTANT – SA STEELWORKS

The SA Steelworks Division has a position for a committed, hardworking and motivated Machine Shop Assistant at our SA Steelworks plant in Cape Town. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting our senior machinists by ensuring the shop floor remains organized, materials and tools are neatly packed away and assisting artisans with jobs.

Responsibilities

• Material Handling: Receive, mark, and prep raw materials for machining.
• Shop Maintenance: Maintain a clean and safe work area, including sweeping and clearing metal chips/coolant from the machine shop floor.
• Post-Processing: Deburr, polish, clean and pack finished parts before they are issued to the relevant department.
• Assisting artisans: Marking off, drilling holes, etc.
