We invite applications for a PhD Research Fellow in Fluid Mechanics at the Department of Mathematics. The position is associated with the newly established Norwegian Maritime AI Centre, located at Blindern Campus, Oslo. The Fellowship period is three years and is available for first‑time applicants only; no one can be appointed for more than one PhD Research Fellowship period at the University of Oslo.
In this project you will work on detecting underwater acoustics using AI methodologies and on CFD simulations combined with physics‑informed machine learning. You will collaborate with other PhD candidates, researchers, and industry partners. The ideal candidate combines strong computational skills with domain knowledge in either acoustics or fluid mechanics, and has demonstrated ability to apply AI/ML methods to physical problems.
