Job Description

You'll work on the SNFS RECONSPHERE project, which investigates inter‑hemispheric temperature inconsistencies evidenced by climate proxies and model simulations over the past millennium. The goal is to reduce uncertainties and improve understanding of late Holocene climate history and climate model projections.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze state‑of‑the‑art millennial tree‑ring chronologies based on quantitative wood anatomy (QWA) from both hemispheres and publish results in scientific journals.
  • Conduct regional temperature reconstructions and compare expressions of the Medieval Climate Anomaly, the Little Ice Age, and the current warm period across northern and southern hemispheres.
  • Compare warm‑period divergence fingerprints between the southern and northern hemispheres.
  • Potentially include proxy‑model comparison for the past millennium.
  • Collaborate with an international team of leading experts in the field.
