Job Overview

Make your mark in conservation by protecting the heritage and visitor assets of Aotearoa. As a Ranger in the Twizel team, you will help maintain and improve visitor facilities and protect key heritage sites across the Mackenzie/Waitaki Basin and Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park.

Salary Range: $61,189 - $67,446.

Full time – 1 year fixed term / secondment, based in Twizel.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain campsites, picnic areas, car parks, toilets, and water systems.
  • Maintain back country huts, bridges, and other structures.
  • Support office tasks such as data entry, planning, and coordinating field trips.
  • Assist wider teams when required.

This role is rostered 5 days per week on a rotating 7‑day roster. Overnight trips of up to a week in remote backcountry locations will be required, with access often by helicopter, boat, or on foot.
