Join Auckland Council as a Senior Animal Shelter Officer (Operations) and play a pivotal role in overseeing and coordinating the operations within the shelter. In this key leadership position, you’ll manage the care and management of impounded dogs, conduct assessments, handle financial transactions, and ensure compliance with relevant legislation. You will also guide the Animal Shelter Officer (Operations) staff, ensuring a high standard of care and operational efficiency.

As the Senior Animal Shelter Officer, you’ll be responsible for the release of impounded dogs, customer‑facing interactions regarding the Dog Control Act 1996, and ensuring that Auckland Council meets its statutory obligations under key legislation such as the Animal Welfare Act 1999 and Impound Act 1955.

This is a permanent full‑time role working 40 hours a week from Tuesday to Saturday 7.45 am to 4.15 pm.
