To ensure that shipments arrive at their destinations on time and within budget. To coordinate incoming shipments, oversee outgoing shipments, and negotiate transportation costs with carriers.
Duties and responsibilities
- Negotiating the price of shipment transportation with carriers.
- Ensure and oversee the smooth dispatch of shipment from point A to point B on time and on budget.
- Processing shipment documentation and assessing completed orders.
- Creating and implementing shipping policies and procedures.
- Hiring, training, and supervising shipping employees.
- Acting as a liaison between management, carriers, and shipping customers.
- Collaborating with internal departments to optimize the flow of orders from preparation to shipment.
- Documenting processes and reporting to management as required.
- Evaluating carrier performance and resolving issues with orders and logistics.
