The incumbent will be responsible for interpreting the daily loading plans of rail commodities and plan train movements for the shift safely.

Key responsibilities will include

• Applying Rail Knowledge principles for performing actual shunter duties in the operational environment.
• Performing the shunting process, which represents organized movement of rolling stock following relevant shunting signals and shunting terminology for safe conveyance of rolling stock.
• Assisting Train Driver with the correct utilization of different train control systems and ensuring correct application of safe train movement principles in accordance with company procedures, RSR and equipment manufacture.
• Directing train drivers when coupling or uncoupling of rolling stock from a train composition.
