Senior Medical Officer – Haematology and Research

An opportunity to make an impact on the health of the community in Counties Manukau at Middlemore Hospital. This is a 0.8 FTE Haematology role and 0.2 FTE research role, for a 9‑month fixed‑term contract between January and 8th October 2027 covering parental leave.

Overview

We serve a population of approximately 560,000 across all major specialties. The Haematology department includes an in‑patient ward, chemotherapy day ward, outpatient clinics, thrombosis service, and a haematology laboratory and blood bank.

Responsibilities

• Provide a full diagnostic service and treatment for patients with haematological diseases in the Counties Manukau region.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and collaborate with nursing, allied health and scientific staff to ensure optimal patient care.
