Summary This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, US Coast Guard, Industrial Department, Structural Shop in Baltimore, MD. Responsibilities You will perform journeyman welding tasks in the 3G, 4G and fillet position to include but not limited to common welding practices using shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), flux core arc welding (FCAW), gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), and gas metal arc welding (GMAW) equipment. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Identifying different types of metal and alloys and also determining thickness and popper grade. Developing templates, layout and fabricates complex and simple sub assemblies to include but not limited to shell plates, frames, water tight and non-watertight bulkheads, deck beams, superstructures, foundations, ladders, pipe rails, rudders, cradles and many other items.
