This role is a Transmission and Distribution Design Engineer in the Energy team providing structural design for powerlines and substations.
Responsibilities Sag & tension calculations. Catenary support system design. Line profiling, gantry analysis and tower setting level calculations. Environmental load assessment, insulator set design and overhead line clearance. Route planning, material quantification and short circuit analysis. Design of powerline structural foundations (piled, pad, rock‑anchor). Investigate and propose remedial actions for damaged or corroded substation and powerline structures. Prepare feasibility studies, outline and detailed design reports, technical drawings and specifications. Lead and mentor graduate and experienced engineers. Qualifications BSc or BEng in Civil/Structural/Mechanical Engineering (PR. Eng or Masters highly desirable). Registered with the ECSA. Strong understanding of IEC and SANS standards.
