Position Summary

The Traveling Excavator Operator is responsible for safely operating excavation equipment to support the installation of underground telecommunications infrastructure, including fiber optic and utility conduit systems.

This role works closely with construction crews to complete trenching, backfilling, and site preparation while maintaining strict adherence to safety and utility protection standards.



Key Responsibilities:

• Operate excavators and other heavy equipment to perform trenching, digging, grading, and backfilling for fiber optic and telecommunications infrastructure.


• Assist with underground utility installation, including conduit, vaults, handholes, and fiber pathways.


• Follow locate markings and utility maps to prevent damage to existing underground utilities.
