:Summary:WAMU 88.5 is a public media station owned and operated by American University. WAMU is the source for local, regional and NPR news and original programs in Washington DC. Since 1961, WAMU has been amplifying voices and sharing stories from the many neighborhoods and communities in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia.The WAMU 1A Assistant will provide support to the 1A production team, with a focus on listener engagement, while learning about the ins and outs of producing a daily show, as well as assist in triaging and responding to listener inquiries received from the email, which will include online story searches and light tech support, and will help craft responses for more nuanced messages as necessary.The student will also look for meaningful listener contributions in the form of voice memos and emails to use on-air, working alongside producers to bring that critical engagement into 1A’s shows.The student will have the o...
