About us

Education Infrastructure Service (EIS) as a part of the Ministry manages one of the largest property portfolios in New Zealand, composed of over 2,100 primary and secondary State schools and over 8,000 hectares of land with a carrying value of $17.2 billion.  EIS is also responsible for managing school payroll, school transport and for the delivery of information communication technology in schools.  EIS undertakes around 3,000 projects per annum; a combination of Ministry and School led projects costing at least $800m per annum.

About the role

The Programme Manager will be responsible for the delivery of the Weather-tightness Remediation Programme across three functional areas: management; reporting; and stakeholder relationships. You will be working closely with regionally based Infrastructure Advisory Services and Capital Works teams together with other regional and national senior managers to ensure seamless planning and delivery management processes for the programme under a strong governance model.

Your Key Priorities will include: 

  • Management - lead and co-ordinate the development and implementation of the programme from inception to completion
  • Reporting - Complete necessary reports on programme status and project tracking
  • Stakeholder relationships - Lead the management of effective stakeholder relationships to progress programme implementation

About you

You will have extensive experience in Programme Management and significant relevant construction knowledge and experience, including some knowledge and experience of the operation of the school sector.

You will also offer the ability to: 

  • think strategically while bringing together a range of varied policy perspectives, evidence based research and operational considerations
  • use frameworks and models to quickly identify key issues associated with problems and find a way forward
  • manage and prioritise competing demands from implementation of multiple work streams.
