What you will be doing | Ngā whāinga matua
You will provide research support as part of the Flavoromics team, undertaking laboratory research investigating the flavour chemistry of a variety of biological materials (including fruits, foods and beverages), using targeted and untargeted analytical methods.
This will involve the preparation and extraction of samples, chemical analysis using HPLC, GC-FID, GC-MS or LC-MS instrumentation, data processing, management and statistical analysis, input into report writing, and support for the general maintenance of the laboratory including instrument and equipment maintenance, Health and Safety, and compliance.

To be successful in this role, you will have:
• A sound theoretical and practical working knowledge of chemistry and metabolite analysis.
• A BSc degree, or equivalent, with knowledge of analytical/flavour chemistry, GC-MS and/or GC-FID, LC-MS, metabolomics, and statistics.
• Practical laboratory experience and a willingness to become familiar with a range of laboratory instruments and software used to process and analyse biological samples.
• Experience in GC-FID and/or GC-MS instrument maintenance will be an advantage.
• Effective project management and accurate record keeping.
• Well-developed written and verbal communication skills including oral presentation skills.
• A growth mind-set with the desire to learn new skills.
