We’re building an awesome Strategic Communications Team to help us proactively tell our story. We’re looking for a Communications Advisor to join our team to help us, plan, develop, and create content (written and video) in an effective way across a range of internal and external platforms, which includes the intranet, website and social media channels. We operate an account management or portfolio approach across our Directorates and teams. You will develop communications plans and provide communications support and advice for different groups in the organisation.


What will you be doing?

  • Find effective and imaginative ways of communicating the work that we do across a range of channels including use of video and images.
  • Recognise communications opportunities and deliver proactive external comms; including corporate comms, speeches and other content creation.
  • Identify and raise key communications issues to the business groups that you support.
  • Write for, post, monitor and analyse social media and other digital channels.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, in order to develop your organisational and sector knowledge so that we can continue to offer a great service to our customers.
  • Assist the team in the day-to-day co-ordination of communications and media responses.
  • Monitor, analyse and measure media coverage.
  • Assist with the multi-channel content calendar.

What will you bring to the role?

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to simplify complex ideas and content without losing meaning.
  • A friendly personality balanced with calm professionalism and strong interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to adapt styles to suit different channels and audiences, and a creative attitude to problem solving and content creation.
  • A can-do attitude and an understanding of the benefits of team work and mucking in to meet deadlines and support colleagues.
  • Experience of working in government and an understanding of our role as part of NZ government is desirable.
  • Rem range $73k to $80k, dependant on skills and experience.
