About the role:

The Digital Advisor is a role that reports to a Team Leader within the Digital Channels Team, which sits within the Engagement, Communications and Ministerial Services branch of MBIE.

In this role you will:

  • work as part of a team making timely and accurate changes to MBIE’s websites and intranet
  • take particular responsibility for one or more websites, ensuring they connect with users
  • build relationships with website owners and subject matter experts, helping them craft great content and intuitive user experiences
  • proactively work to improve channels and maximise their impact
  • be a passionate and forthright champion of usability and accessibility
  • manage e-newsletter mail-outs, delivering usable content consistently, to the right audiences.

What we’re looking for

We are keen to hear from you if you:

  • know about web standards, trends, and best practice, and can leverage them to create the best customer experience
  • have experience creating, editing and publishing accessible, customer-focused digital content in all formats
  • have a practical understanding of content management systems, HTML, video/image editing tools, and website analytics
  • can quickly establish and build strong working relationships and develop trust and credibility
  • have a proactive, can-do attitude with initiative, sound judgement and discretion.

We’ll be even keener to talk to you if your cover letter shows that you have attention to detail, you can craft good content, and you think about what your audience wants.

What we’re not looking for

This role does not include any marketing or social media management.

About the team:

We are a busy Digital Channels team with staff based in Wellington and Christchurch. Our role is to ensure MBIE’s 40+ websites and intranet meet users’ needs. We do this by providing customer-centred strategic advice and services to the websites’ business owners, and ensuring that MBIE’s websites are managed consistently, promoting and prioritising accessibility and usability.
