Due to a cabinet paper outlining the transfer of speed camera operations from NZ Police to NZTA this role may be affected as a result. The transition time for the transfer to occur is projected to be over a two year period. More information will be made available as and when Police are notified.

 

New Zealand Police operate an ISO17025 calibration laboratory that tests speed, distance and weighing measurement devices.

Standard hours of work are Monday to Friday between 0800 and 1600.  There will be a requirement to work on weekends or different hours for isolated periods.

 

You will possess the following skills:

 

  • Demonstrates a good knowledge of electronics, both theory and practical
  • Demonstrates the ability to conduct evaluations on equipment and prepare reports
  • Demonstrates experience in the ability to design, build and test mechanical devices

Special Requirements:

 

  • Applicants must be a NZ or Australian citizen, or a NZ resident or have a valid NZ work visa to apply for this position
  • Be available to work shifts, including weekends and nights
  • Be able to obtain ISO 17025 status for work conducted
  • Applicants who are interviewed may have to complete a basic practical test involving frequency and / or electronics
  • Successful applicant must have a current and clean New Zealand driver’s licence (Class 1)
  • Be able to travel away from home for up to one week (7 nights)
