Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
As the Chief Resident you will manage and organise teaching programmes for ward house officers and medical registrars. You will ensure quality and safety improvement and manage operational and performance related issues. You will take ownership of all tasks related to recruitment, rosters and leave for ward house officers and medical registrars. You will have the opportunity to be a key contributor to a variety of initiatives, with the opportunity to improve patient experience and outcomes.
The Chief resident contributes to actualising equity through Te Tiriti o Waitangi and fosters working environments to promote Pae Ora for Māori whānau. The Chief resident would engage with the Māori Health team at Starship to provide education on equity and Te Tiriti in Action.
The Chief Resident’s clinical commitments can be designed to meet training requirements and cover both inpatient and outpatient services, there is also the opportunity to conduct your own child health related clinical research. This exciting position enables clinicians to gain invaluable experience across a diverse section of clinical and non-clinical areas, providing the premium training opportunity for working as a consultant paediatrician. · Have appropriate registration with the Medical Council New Zealand
· Are highly motivated; organised, mature and enjoy a challenge
· Have an understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and how to apply it in the health setting
· Part 1 FRACP ( Paeds ) or Equivalent
· Working Knowledge of Starship
· Value both their own professional development and their colleagues
· Bring strong communication skills and the ability to lead a team of junior clinicians
This is a 12-month fixed term opportunity with guaranteed return to Auckland advanced training scheme if this is required. The role will commence early and interviews will take place in June-July this year.
