We’re recruiting! The Central City Hub is looking for a Community Programming Specialist to join the team at the Ellen Melville Centre !
Join a high performing team that is passionate about delivering brave and exciting programmes with a drive to innovate and bring something unique to the Central City.
We are looking for someone with solid partnership and communication skills, experience coordinating and delivering high-impact community programming and an understanding of the needs of diverse communities. You will need to be agile, able to move and collaborate with colleagues across the hub and to keep up with the pace that comes with working in the heart of the Central City.
You will work alongside our community and with our Central Hub team to develop high-impact programmes that respond to the Waitematā Local Board Plan and support communities that need us most. You will have experience developing and delivering programmes that align with our focus areas including; Māori Outcomes, Sustainability, Homelessness, Creativity, Diversity and Youth & Whanau. And, in support of Auckland Council's commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, you will have to demonstrate a desire to build a strong understanding of our Māori Responsiveness Framework to support and grow new initiatives.
This is a full-time role based at the Ellen Melville Centre – 40 hours a week, Monday - Friday.

The Community Programming Specialist also works closely with staff in our Central/East Unit as well as from across Libraries, Arts & Culture, Events, Community Impact and other departments in Auckland Council as well as CCO’s like the Auckland Art Gallery, Auckland Live and local Universities. You will be expected to actively network, liaise with local organisations and participate in projects underway within the City Centre.
